How This Calculator Works
Category Averages
For each category (Homework, Quizzes, Tests, Projects, etc.), the calculator averages all the scores you enter.
- Individual scores like 92, 88, 95 are averaged directly.
- Scores like 45/50 are automatically converted to percentage (90%) before averaging.
Semester Grade Calculation
Your overall semester grade is calculated as a weighted average:
Semester Grade = (Category 1 Average × Weight) + (Category 2 Average × Weight) + …
The weights should add up to 100%. If they don’t, the calculator will automatically normalize them.
Score Needed on Final / Remaining Work
If you enter your current grade, target grade, and the weight of the remaining/final exam, the calculator will tell you exactly what score you need:
Required Score = (Target Grade − Current Grade × (1 − Final Weight)) ÷ Final Weight
Example
Current grade = 88%, Final exam weight = 20%, Target grade = 90%
→ You need 98% on the final exam.
